Paul Savvas

Chief Executive Officer

Pavlos (Paul) Savvas serves as Chief Executive Officer of the Hellenic Community of Western Australia (HCWA) and its associated entities, including St. Andrew’s Grammar and Hellenic Community Aged Care. He brings to the role a rare blend of deep personal connection, professional insight and cultural commitment. As a former student of St. Andrew’s Grammar, Paul completed all his formal education with the school before going on to graduate from Murdoch University with a double degree in Law and Commerce.

Paul began his professional career as a practising family lawyer, where he honed his skills in navigating complex financial and parenting matters. This foundation gave him a strong grounding in governance, strategic planning and organisational accountability. Over time he shifted from legal practice into broader leadership within the Hellenic Community, taking on roles that supported the Community’s multiple pillars of education, aged care and cultural life. He balanced his full-time work as a lawyer with being on the Hellenic Community Board before joining the organisation as its CEO. Over more than a decade of service on community management and advisory committees, Paul has demonstrated consistent dedication to good governance, community wellbeing and the long-term sustainability of HCWA’s work.

In his current role as CEO, Paul leads with clarity of purpose. He is committed to ensuring that St. Andrew’s Grammar delivers a distinctive Greek Orthodox and Hellenic education — an environment where students are supported academically, culturally, spiritually and socially. Under his leadership, the school continues to uphold its multicultural ethos while pursuing academic excellence, cultural enrichment and a nurturing community for students K-12.

Fluent in both Greek and English, Paul’s bicultural background is a strength. It helps him bridge generational gaps, foster cultural heritage within our community and ensure that HCWA’s services are delivered with cultural sensitivity, dignity and understanding.

Beyond his formal responsibilities, Paul is deeply invested in ensuring the long-term health and growth of HCWA. He works quietly but purposefully to build trust with families, engage stakeholders and guide the organisation through change while preserving its core values. In doing so, he honours the legacy of our community’s founders and ensures that future generations remain connected to their heritage, faith and identity.

With Paul at the helm, St. Andrew’s Grammar remains more than a school. It is a community where academic growth, personal development and cultural enrichment go hand in hand.

Siza Macdonald

Acting Principal / Head of Secondary

Siza is a dedicated educator with a remarkable career spanning over three decades in leadership and teaching roles. In that time, she has served across multiple leadership roles within government and independent schools. In 2024, she joined St. Andrew’s Grammar as Head of Learning Area in Science. Siza is an active contributor to the educational community, serving on the Curriculum Advisory Committee (AISWA) and the STAWA Committee, and co-authoring “Exploring Chemistry ATAR” for Years 11 and 12.

Siza’s commitment to professional development is evident through her mentorship of aspiring leaders and her engagement in pedagogical training. Recognized for her excellence, Siza received the Exemplary Teaching Award at the Western Australian Education Awards in 2010 and has consistently achieved high results in WACE Chemistry examinations, contributing to her schools being recognized as Top Achieving Schools.

Beyond academics, Siza fosters strong relationships to create an environment that promotes excellence across all areas of the school. She is committed to transforming St. Andrew’s Grammar into one of Western Australia’s top secondary schools, emphasizing a culture of positivity, high standards, and continuous improvement. With a clear vision for the future, Siza aims to leave a lasting impact by elevating the school’s profile and supporting staff and students.

Shane Bogunovich

Business Manager

Shane is an accomplished financial and managerial professional with over 28 years of experience in the Education and non-profit sectors. He has built his career specialising in financial management, budgeting, infrastructure development and campus expansion. With a keen ability to optimise financial operations and support the school’s curriculum and educational initiatives.

Shane began his career in education as the Accountant at a prominent Independent Boys (PSA) school, where he worked for nine years. In this role, he honed his expertise in financial management, educational institutional budgeting , Corporate Governance and compliance. His next educational chapter saw him spend 18 years as the Bursar at a private independent College in WA. In this capacity, Shane was responsible for overseeing the school’s financial operations, leading projects to expand the infrastructure and facilities beyond the original Campus footprint, whilst managing complex budgets to support the educational objectives of the institution.

In addition to his extensive experience, Shane has pursued continuous professional development, complementing his early university studies with further qualifications and studies in financial management , school project management and Governance. His strategic mindset and operational acumen have allowed him to lead a wide variety of initiatives, working closely with School Principals, Senior Leadership Teams ,Boards and corporate organisations to ensure the ongoing improvement and financial longevity of the institutions he serves.

Shane’s leadership extends beyond his immediate work environment. He has served as the State President of the Western Australian Chapter and as a National Board Member of the Association of School Business Administrators (ASBA). Through these roles, he has contributed to advancing the professional standards of school business management in both WA and Australia wide and is a strong advocate for collaboration between educational and corporate organisations.

Shane’s proven abilities in financial optimisation, campus development, management and his appetite for supporting the educational community continues to drive his professional endeavors.

Julie Wall

Head of Primary School

Julie Wall is an excellent and highly respected Primary School educator and experienced Head of Primary who migrated to Australia from England. She brings a wealth of experience in teaching, leadership and curriculum across both the UK and Australian education systems. Julie is recognised for her strong instructional leadership, high expectations and her ability to create warm, respectful and purposeful learning environments where both students and staff thrive.

Julie has served in multiple senior leadership positions, including Head of Primary, in both Australia and the UK. She possesses deep and comprehensive knowledge of curriculum, teaching and learning across all stages of Primary Education. Her expertise spans play-based learning in the Early Years and Pre-Kindergarten, through to the pedagogies of explicit instruction and inquiry-based learning. She has a thorough understanding of how children learn, develop and flourish as confident, capable learners, consistently applying best-practice approaches. Julie is also instrumental in designing and implementing new programs, ensuring they are innovative, evidence-based and highly effective in enhancing student outcomes.

Committed to excellence in teaching and learning, Julie consistently demonstrates exemplary classroom practice. She designs and leads the implementation of high-quality, engaging learning programs that are intentional, inclusive and evidence-informed, ensuring students are challenged, supported, and known as individual learners. She has extensive experience working with children with disabilities and is highly skilled in developing differentiated programs that build skills, confidence and independence. Her teaching is characterised by strong relationships, clear and consistent routines, explicit teaching practices and meaningful learning experiences that are relevant, memorable and deeply engaging. Drawing on her extensive background, she supports teachers to refine pedagogy, strengthen curriculum understanding and continuously improve classroom practice.

Julie has a genuine passion for all year groups, from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 6, with a strong commitment to developing each child academically, socially and emotionally, ensuring happy, confident learners with a strong sense of wellbeing. She has a particular love for the Early Years and foundational stages, recognising their critical importance in shaping children’s future learning and overall development. As a leader, she guides teams to establish strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, wellbeing and learner dispositions, ensuring high-quality teaching, consistent expectations and learning experiences that enable all students to flourish.
